Carbon and climate action
We measure our carbon impact, including our Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, every year.
We look for reduction opportunities so we can continue on a path to net zero.
We compensate our unavoidable emissions through certified carbon credit schemes. Carbon offsetting doesn’t magically wipe the slate clean, but we believe it complements our steady emissions reduction strategy. In recent years, we’ve invested in sustainable development projects in Nepal, Brazil and Panama, all certified by Gold Standard.
We work primarily with a carbon-neutral printing company when the printing of products falls within our responsibility.
We limit air travel as much as possible, opting for virtual meetings or travelling by train in the first instances.
We provide training for our employees to improve their carbon literacy.
Energy and water
We use renewable electricity in our office.
We reduce the amount of energy used as much as possible, for example by switching off electrical equipment when not in use.
We takes the energy consumption and efficiency of new products into account when purchasing them.
Purchasing decisions
We favour more environmentally-friendly and efficient products wherever possible. For example, we opt for refurbished computers over new.
We reuse and recycle everything we are able to.
Transportation
We promote the use of travel alternatives such as e-mail or video/phone conferencing. Where travel is necessary, we research alternatives to flying such as rail, and choose the overland option where practical.
We encourage sustainable transport options, for example through our cycle-to-work scheme.
Culture
We review this policy annually and encourage team members to make suggestions for how we could further reduce our impact.
